About

Laura Grace Designs is small sustainable fashion and home accessories brand based in Toronto.
I've always dreamed of having my own fashion brand and once I graduated from fashion school in 2021, I developed a passion for sustainable design practices and wanted to learn more.
In 2024 I made it my goal to design unique, one of a kind pieces without compromising on sustainability and quality. So I bring you Laura Grace Designs, everything designed and handmade by me, with the hope that you will find your new favourite statement piece, and feel good about your impact on the planet at the same time.

Secondhand and recycled materials
I source everything from fabric yardage, thread, buttons and zippers secondhand and in new condition. You'd be surprised with what you can find that is already out there, waiting to be made into something beautiful.
All the recycled materials I use come from items that can no longer serve its initial intended purpose (i.e. are slightly damaged in some way) This ensures that no is created from cutting up something new to make something else.
Using secondhand and recycled materials requires the most creativity and defines the way I design. However, some of my favourite pieces I've created come from this method.
Designing with the planet in mind
One of the most important steps in creating something truly sustainable is ensuring the design of the item itself is sustainable and creates little waste to no waste. This means that at inception, an item that uses less materials or creates less scrap pieces at the cutting stage for example, are inherently more environmentally friendly.
For this reason I tend to design pieces that are simple in shape and often utilize seam lines to piece things together. This ensures less waste while still creating visual interest in different ways.
I also design my pieces with wearability and longevity in mind. This means a lot of pieces are multi-functional and neutral so it can be easily styled and used for years to come. What can I say? I like a challenge.
Longevity
No matter how sustainable the design and materials of an item is, how long it lasts before going to the landfill dramatically effects the total carbon impact it has.
My ultimate goal is to make pieces that can transcend the rise and fall of trends, that can transition throughout the seasons and that you will love and use for a long time.
